New York City - The Alliance Continuing Care Network (ACCN), a continuing care network representing 21 facilities throughout the New York metropolitan area, including Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester counties has developed a successful partnership with managed care organizations (MCO) to serve their Medicare members. The ACCN has finalized contracts with six managed care organizations: Ameri-Health, Aetna/USHealthcare, Cigna, Multiplan, Oxford and United Health Care. Contract negotiations with several additional MCOs are underway. In November and December of 1998 the ACCN member organizations admitted over 250 Medicare managed care members. According to John David Smith, CEO of the ACCN, "The MCOs are eager to contract with the ACCN and to admit patients to our facilities not only because of the high quality medical care our facilities are known for, but also the ease of administration offered through the bed availability system. The bed availability toll free number (1-877-ACCN BED) has proven to be a valuable resource for case managers and discharge planners who need to place patients in continuing care facilities." The member organizations of the ACCN are Amsterdam Nursing Home Corporation, Beth Abraham Health Services, CNR Health Care Network, Field Home-Holy Comforter, Gurwin Jewish Geriatric Center, Isabella Geriatric Center, The Jewish Guild for the Blind, The Jewish Home and Hospital, Metropolitan Jewish Health System, Morningside House, The Osborn, Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation, St. Mary's Hospital for Children, The Wartburg Adult Care Community and Village Care of New York. |
