The Parker Jewish Institute allocates beds for short-term rehabilitation for victims of strokes, fractures and amputations. Patients receive a total occupational, physical and speech therapy program. An average of 88 percent of rehabilitation patients are successfully discharged to their home within six to eight weeks.
Alzheimer Center
The Parker Jewish Institute Alzheimer Center offers a flexible "drop-in" program of care for people with Alzheimer’s, and features a safe and supportive environment of activities in a home-like setting. Care is provided by experienced therapists.
Community Health Center
The Parker Jewish Institute’s Community Health Center offers a broad-based network of medical, nursing, therapeutic, social and recreational services on an outpatient basis. The Center encompasses Parker’s Adult Day Health Center and its Diagnostic and Treatment Center, which makes available a full complement of health care services in one location.
Home Health Care
The Home Health Care Program at the Parker Jewish Institute brings a wide range of health and other supportive services directly into the home of the frail elderly. The program includes nursing care, physical and occupational therapy, nutritional planning, and social work counseling. Treatment can also include emergency alarm response service and medical transportation.
Subacute Care
The Medical/Surgical Subacute program provides a full spectrum of medical and nursing services. It is intended for patients who no longer require acute care hospitalization but do need additional treatment before returning home. The average length of stay for patients is five to eight days.
Physicians are on duty 24 hours a day and a cardiac emergency response team operates full-time as well. Staff is trained in caring for complex medical problems resulting from vascular surgery, coronary by-pass surgery, cardio-thoracic surgery or brain injuries. Tracheotomies, I.V. therapy, pain management, chemotherapy, and wound management are among the treatments available.
Skilled Nursing Care
The medical staff at Parker is one of the largest and most highly trained within any similar facility in the country.
The 500 members of the Nursing Department take part in ongoing training programs to advance their skills and update their knowledge.
The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation provides individualized physical, occupational and speech therapy treatments.
The Institute has clinics in dentistry, ophthalmology, ear-nose-throat, radiology, orthopedics, podiatry and audiology.
Members of the Social Work Department are closely involved with both residents and families from the start of the admissions process until discharge.
Services provided by the Therapeutic Recreation Department help involve residents in a variety of activities aimed at enriching daily life and promoting personal well being.
A full time Chaplain offers spiritual counseling. Services are held for all major faiths.
Comprehensive Community Hospice
Comprehensive Community Hospice is dedicated to the dignity of life and the right of every person and their family members to take part in decisions related to the final stages of life. It is designed to help patients do as much as their condition permits and to remain at home surrounded by those they love.
